I have really enjoyed meeting so many of the residents in our community in the past few months. Traveling from one end of Park County to the other, I see a community diverse yet connected in so many ways. We discuss the current and future law enforcement needs and your input is important to me. I am committed to continuing to meet with each community once I take office as your Sheriff. I find this level of communication and commitment best serves you , the community.
Your friends, neighbors and colleagues have met me and let you know that I am the one candidate that stands out. You have expressed to me that you see in me the fresh perspective you want in a sheriff. My 35 year career is transparent and I have nothing to hide or diffuse. I am truly seeking election to make a difference. They tell you of my experience , my leadership abilities, my communication skills, but mostly they say, "you just need to meet him and you will see he is the one we need."
I have broad and lengthy experience in patrol, narcotics investigations, homicide investigations, fraud investigations, officer involved use of force investigations, public corruption investigations; I have prepared and served hundreds of high risk search warrants. I have testified in hundreds of cases in judicial proceedings. My last twelve years I assisted small rural police agencies and sheriff's departments with their cases. I was a SWAT team leader. My experience gives you the confidence that I can handle any situation we face in Park County. I am professional and fair and will stand up for what is right and not settle. I earned much respect in my career and will bring that respect and leadership to the citizens of Park County.
During my 35 year law enforcement career I received thousands of hours of extensive training and instruction in various areas of law enforcement.
"I have gained support not just by my experience and resume, but because you find me approachable, easy to talk to, and you immediately have confidence in me. I am no outsider to valuing people and their concerns in our community. I have dedicated my entire career to common sense law enforcement. This is the kind of sheriff I will be. I am involved, I listen, and I communicate with, and, involve the community."
My law enforcement career began when I was just 19 years old. As a rookie patrol officer, I had the privilege of working with solid veteran officers who taught me that conducting myself with integrity and honor, and treating people with respect and dignity are the essential requirements of life behind the badge. Over the last 35 years of my law enforcement career, the lessons I learned from those mentors in my early years shaped my compassion for service. My commitment has always been to treat people with respect and to make the right decisions.
From my experience of many years of responding to street level crimes and investigating major high-profile cases, I am well equipped to provide the citizens of Park County with the service and protection they deserve from their Sheriff’s Office.
There is an undeniable and overwhelming support for change at the Park County Sheriff's Office. As your Sheriff, I will provide the leadership, training and example necessary to implement a professional department. Over the past 35 years, I have demonstrated my commitment to working effectively with people of varying backgrounds, attitudes, opinions, and beliefs. My deep experience as a law enforcement officer at the local, county and state levels is reflected in my ability to communicate in a fair, clear, concise and confident manner.
I understand the law enforcement and community issues facing Park County. I have personally served in the many roles of a law enforcement officer within a community and am confident in my ability for identifying problems and developing solutions.
In the face of dangerous and violent situations, I have the proven leadership and experience to make safe and proper decisions. I have led many high-risk situations to successful results. I have investigated, testified and brought thousands of cases to successful conclusions in my career.
When my family and I moved to Park County, we brought a devotion to public service that we have practiced our entire adult lives. I promise you that as your sheriff I will be fully devoted to the people I have the honor to serve, and will be tireless in my commitment to making the Park County Sheriff's Office and community the safest and best in all of Colorado.
